The course

Davis Love III built his Barefoot Resort course to stand out among neighbors designed by Fazio, Norman, and Dye, and it delivers a round that is visually striking and genuinely fun.

Opened in 2000, the Love Course even incorporates a replica of 17th century plantation house ruins, a nod to the ruins found alongside holes in Scotland and Ireland. The Carolina native and leading PGA Tour professional shaped a layout with wide fairways and generous landing areas, so the driver stays in play all day.

Do not get too comfortable off the tee, though. The approach shots come into tough turtleback greens that shed anything short of a precise strike. The par 72 measures 7,047 yards from the championship tees at a 75.1 rating and 138 slope, with men's tees at 6,542 and ladies' tees at 5,346, all finishing on Bermuda greens.

The greens are so small it makes it almost unplayable.

Although I did not play on the day we played here, I've been told by those that did play that this was a great track

★★★★

The Barefoot Love course is reliable year after year.... The staff and team there make it a solid golf experience.

Richard
★★★★

Good course in good condition but not a 5 because of poor starter process (almost an hour delay) and pace of play (over 5 hours making it an almost 6 hour day).

Ken
★★★★★

another must play experience

One of our favorites, many ele ater greens.

★★

The course was in good shape but the attitudes of staff and length of play big negatives. We were held up for 1/2 hour after scheduled tee times - either backed up or waiting for singles to pair with our 3-man groups. No starter at tee and clearly no help from on course monitors as round was very slow. From original tee time to finish of all groups was well over 6 hours.

Todd was absolutely amazing during our golf trip! He went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and that we had a great time. He even managed to get us an extra round of golf for free—what a bonus! His attention to detail, helpful attitude, and dedication to making our experience memorable did not go unnoticed. We couldn’t have asked for better support. Thank you, Todd!

Small greens but quick and great condition.

Course was fun and in decent shape

Fazio and love were equally challenging but in very different ways. Course setup is great, especially for the short par 4’s. Most are less than 380 yds or so but. Bunker and tree locations demand accurate tee shots. Very few holes where the Driver is needed.

Well maintained, good layout, felt welcome

Always a great course to play as the second round. Not a huge fan of the ruins though.

Rob

Was a great course

Cory
★★★★★

Immaculate green and fairway conditions.

Andrew
★★★★

Good conditions and course was in great shape. Sometimes the "fleecing" by the cart guys gets annoying; they are always hanging out, ready to tackle you and hold you down while another one cleans your clubs which you never asked to be cleaned, and then they expect a tip. Ridiculous. I would have given it a "5" if it weren't for the cart guys.

David
★★★★

Nice course, well laid out, however extremely small greens.

Guy
★★★★

would have been 5 stars, but course was still wet from hurricane Debby. overall good experience.

Chris
★★★★★

Beautiful course. Tee box selection makes it as challenging as you desire. Unable to play originally scheduled tee time as course was closed due to tropical storm Debby. Rescheduled and played Friday, August 9th.
