The course
Gary Player's 1990 design in Murrells Inlet asks you to hit every shot in your bag across a layout carved from pristine lowcountry ground.
Located just south of Myrtle Beach on S.C. Highway 707, Blackmoor sits in a natural area where wild turkeys, deer, and even gators make appearances during a round. Oaks reported to be 400 years old and majestic pines line most fairways, which run average in width with few fairway bunkers. Several holes feature dual fairways, and the marsh waits for anyone who cuts a dogleg too aggressively.
This is a thinking player's course built on risk and reward. Some of the shortest holes are the toughest because you must commit to going for it or laying back, and a careless decision can put a big number on the card. Greens are average to large with moderate undulation and plenty of greenside bunkers, all running on TifEagle surfaces. The par 72 plays 6,614 yards from the championship tees, 6,217 from the men's, and 4,807 from the ladies'.
