The course
Golf Digest nominated Panther's Run as the best new course of 1996, and it plays like two courses in one round.
Tim Cate designed the front nine in classic Carolina Lowcountry style, low lying and loaded with water and marsh. The back nine flips the script entirely, opening up with wide playing corridors inspired by the old Scottish links and dramatic elevation changes you do not expect on the coast.
The variety keeps every club in play across the par 72, which stretches to 7089 yards and a 148 slope from the championship tees, with members and ladies tees at 6267 and 5023. Bent grass greens finish off the test. It is a course that rewards playing it twice, since no two nines here feel alike.

★★The fairways and tees were in fine condition. The greens however were not. They were very brittle and bumpy, it was difficult to put on a line as they did not roll true or consistent.
