The course
Jack Nicklaus built Pawleys Plantation to be as beautiful as it is challenging, with lake and marsh views on a layout that reaches a 150 slope from the tips.
This 1988 Nicklaus design delivers scenery with every round, headlined by a tremendous double green, a dramatic split fairway, and sweeping marsh vistas. The signature moment comes at the par 3 13th, where a 300 yard bulkheaded dike carries cart traffic out to tees that let you play the hole anywhere from 40 to 145 yards. Either way, the shot is all carry across the marsh.
Golf Digest ranked Pawleys Plantation among the top courses in South Carolina in its 1997 rankings. The par 72 plays 7026 yards from the championship tees with a 75.2 rating and 150 slope, 6582 from the members tees, and 4985 for the ladies, all on TifEagle greens. Bring your best ball striking and your camera.

★★★★My favorite course of the trip, amazing! Man at pro shop (don't recall his name) wouldn't allow us to reserve a replay tee time without paying. Our concern was weather and not wanting a rain check. We assured him we would replay as long as it wasn't storming but he wouldn't accommodate us. Stated, "I could sell that spot". It worked out, no storm. I've never encountered this before.
★★★★★Great course. Hadn’t played it in years. Greens were in great shape in spite of being in their slow season. Would definitely play again.
★★★★★Loved the layout! Loved the condition! Loved the pace of play! Played 36 holes on a Saturday. Play both 18s in less than 4 hours. Loved the beauty of the holes on the marsh.
