[formidable id=30]Challenging, but equally beautiful, Pawley’s Plantation by Jack Nicklaus offers a scenic event with every round. Among the most unforgettable features are a tremendous double green, a dramatic split fairway, and breathtaking lake and marsh views. A 300 yard dike bulk-headed for cart traffic leads to a set of tees where the golfer can play the par 3 #13 from a distance of 40 to 145 yards – both shots are across the marsh. This signature course ranked among the top courses in South Carolina in Golf Digest’s 1997 Rankings.
would have been nice to know some of the course would have been torn up and that they were closing for the season on Monday 5/22
Pawley's was not in great shape. It is being closed in October for renovations
Great layout and some very memorable holes. Would have given it a 5, but the fairways needed grass at some spots.
Needs work which I understand is planned
Condition could have been better
#1 poor rating. Course in horrible condition; black sand with gravel; too much dirt. Totally bad experience!
Poor condition of the course
Course was in decent shape and a good challenge. Bring insect repellant as the biting gnats are rampant here.
Great layout, good conditions, tough track
One of the best courses and golfing environments I have ever experienced. I WILL be back
Staff was very welcoming! The hardest track we played all week. Np Cart path restrictions except par 3's
Also told that greens were recently punched but small tines allowed for quicker healing.
Bad shape and too tricked up. Some of the holes needed a windmill and a clown mouth...
What is not to like, everything great.
Course in good shape, both fairways and greens. Staff very helpful. Two of our foursome had to leave for a family medical emergency, and we were paired with two extremely slow players. We quit at 9. But, we will play again on some future trip, because we all like the course. The Tradition pub is nice, and the staff there is friendly and helpful.
great course; fairways a little rough. I understand there have been some changes in management. looking forward to playing again real soon
they put too many players on the course on a members day. course in average condition but very slow round
Course is fantastic, couple of quirky holes distract
Customer service is not the best.
Course was fine, service sucked!
Grass wasn't fully grown in
Extraordinary!
Two years in a row for very poor service and just ok for the course
The course was fun and the staff accommodated
Customer service is not good
Very Happy with this course. People were fabulous
A great track and in very good shape. Greens were night and day from when we played there a few years ago.
Enjoyable and challenging
Have seen it in better shape before, but still good
Good course that was I good shape. Will play again if in a package.
Great views, great layout. Staff was great too
Of all the courses my group played on our trip (Caledonia and Tidewater) Pawleys was the best. Great greens and great scenery.
Great course
always challlenging
Beautiful course. Really windy day made it super difficult.
4 Stars
Rain check
Terrific challenging track. Best finishing hole I’ve played. Jack Nicklaus never disappoints
didn't play
Golf Shop and Restaurant staff were great. Only issue was we were held up a bit by the outside staff while trying to get on the tee and beat the sun
Very nice course.
Best Course of the five
One of my all time favorites. Was in good shape.
We liked the course but there are better ones in that area. We did a re-play at their sister course, Willbrook Plantation, and it is was as nice as any course we've played. Will definitely put in on next yer's list.
Course was a little tough for our 14-20 handicappers. But the layout was great and the people were awesome
Being a Nicklaus signature design I had high expectations along the same lines as Caledonia. Was disappointed. Thought the course to be average with course tucked into all of houses/condos.
Good shape, not a fan of the layout or the large number of houses throughout the course - for a 1 1/2 drive, Caledonia is far superior
Great views
Jack's design was tough!
Great layout / Some holes in tough shape
Scorched fairways, many damaged greens and a 45 yard temporary green. Very Poor Condition, nice course layout
Grass was dead, greens barren. The place was in rough shape.
Dry - lack of rain but also problems with sprinkler system. Several greens with bare patches
Probably my favorite course on the Myrtle Beach courses. Have to include this one if playing on South end
The front nine is a disaster, really if I’m paying top dollar for my vacation. I don’t want to see dirt . The back nine makes up for everything. The signature holes is nice.
Had three or four greens with no grass on them
greens were burnt out but great layout
Four stars for the layout, which was both attractive and difficult. Condition-wise, only two stars as a number of the greens were burned out or dying and it seemed like there was a lot top-dressing. Service at grille room was slow and disorganized, plus their computer wasn’t working properly so some lunch orders never made it to the kitchen even though they were paid for. So, overall a three-star rating.
A number of the greens were in bad shape, but other than that it was a very pleasant round of golf. Staff was very accommodating.
Always a pleasure
The best
Fun course
Very disappointed it’s the condition of Pawley’s Plantation.
Great Course and great test of golf.
Very tough course, tight and tree lined.
Live the course and surrounding neighborhood
Bugs ate me up!
5
Just awesome surroundings.
things went smooth...nice course
very nice, a long tunnels of trees to hit down a premium on the fairway. Greens were in great shape
the course was in overall good condition. Probably the most challenging course on our rotation.
If the rough had been growing it would have been much better.
Very good track. Toughest course we played all week. Tight fairways.
Wonderful challenging course. We were pushed by 4 Woman members who each had their own cart. Ranger was apparently frustrated by this. They ended up only playing 9. Will be back.... par’’d 13...
Course was in good shape, conditions were tough, cold and windy. Clubhouse staff was good.
Memorable holes
Looking forward to playing again when construction is done
Course was under repair and had temporary holes. We should have been told.
Favorite of all golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area.
All time favorite!
Pauley's is always a favorite. The course was in great condition. Challenging and fun. Carts could use GPS range finders.
a little surprised at the overall condition of course. cart paths in disrepair. not what i'm accustomed in Nicklaus course.
Nice course & greens. Employees polite & friendly
Greens were uncut. Tee box uncut. We were told the greens were just uncut Sunday. That was a cover up. Worse greens we ever played on.
Top notch in everyway.
Greens were terrible. Views were great!
Green's was fuzzy!!!! But its amazing lay out .
Best Greens they have ever had.
Beautiful Course!! In excellent shape! Only complaint greens were painfully slow...
Hole 13 was a very cool experience! Nice Golf Course
Course was in nice shape
First time I played it in 30 years. Really enjoyed the course.
Nice course
Maintenance not up to the expectations for this course. That said, had a fun day. Holes along the marsh never disappoint. With it being as hot as it was, need to figure out better hydration options other than the two rest stations in the middle of each 9.
Bunkers were terrible and no sand in them
Disappointing. So much hype around this course before we got there. Fairways and greens were in sporadic bad shape. Not at all what we were expecting.
course layout was awesome, greens were in tough shape.
Average condition but great layout.
Course in OK shape. Greens OK..
Not great condition
Pawleys Plantation was in tremendous condition. It was a real treat to enjoy a complimentary lunch with beverages. A great experience.
The best course of the week
