The course
Pine Lakes opened in 1927 as Myrtle Beach's first golf course, which is why everyone calls it the Granddaddy. The service is as memorable as the history.
From the moment you arrive, guests are treated like royalty. A white gloved caddy master greets you at the gates, and club assistants clean your clubs and shine your shoes after the round. On warm days you are handed a mimosa on the course; when the wind picks up, expect hot chocolate on the first tee and fresh homemade Lowcountry clam chowder served from an old black kettle over an open fire.
The course was built as a complement to the famed Ocean Forest Hotel and designed as a playground for the rich and famous. When the hotel was destroyed, the golf course was all that remained, and it has been remodeled over the years from the original 27 holes into today's 18 hole par 71. It now plays 6675 yards from the championship tees, 6305 from the members tees, and 4718 for the ladies.

★Greens were sanded Course layout was plain, felt like any local Muni
★★Greens were just punched and terrible. No marshaling and pace of play was horrendous
★★★Extremely slow Play …no ranger….not a good experience!
★★Greens recently punched, would have been nice to know and no marshaling, pace of play terrible.
★★★★★So pretty. Some of the greens were a little wonky, but nothing horrible!
★★★★★Loved everything about this course and the staff. Greens have great character but good shots are not punished. 5/5 rating.

★★★★They air rated the greens in rough shape but the service and staff were awesome. Great course besides the greens.
★★★★★Beautiful course. Very good shape.
★★★★★Absolutely beautiful course
★★★★★Always top notch
★★★★★The best. We try to play here every year. Only negative is there is no driving range but course layout and conditions more than make up for that.
★★★★★Night and day from previous day - started on line, course in fantastic condition and pace of play great. Course never fails to impress and we have booked it each of last few years and will be doing so again.
★★★★Pleasantly surprised
★★★★★Great course and conditions were very good
★★★★Great track. Only downfall seem to be that there was no driving range to warm up on.
★★★★Course conditions were great. Little bit of a drawback that there is no warm-up range.
★★★★★Loved the city course feel. Very friendly and accommodating staff
★★★★Just a good course. Everyone was kind and wonderful but the course was just ok
★★★★★loved the course. definitely would play again.
★★★★★Doesn't get any better than this with historical context and great golf.
★★★★★Generous fairways…a fair test.
★★★★Well maintained. Found the course played long.
★★★★★always in great shape. one of our favorites and the staff is always so kind and helpful
★★★★★Best course of the trip!! Great layout and very picturesque
★★Play was too slow…6 hour round
★★★★★Great layout..player friendly. Young pro in pro shop from New Jersey was very nice. Bar and restaurant staff were excellent. Have played in previous years and would consider again and recommend to others. Proximity to airport makes it a final day destination plus.
★★★★★Great shape and very helpful staff
★★★Did not play received rain check
★★★★★The only course we played in 4 days that was not CPO, it was in immaculate shape and the staff was the friendliest.
★★★★★The granddaddy did not disappoint.
★★★Okay course not in great shape
★★★★★The course is always in Great shape and our Group wants to play it every year. Pace of play is always good and around 4 hours.
★★★★Course was in good condition
★★★★Beautiful historic clubhouse. Great staff. Course in very good condition. Staff most accommodating and helpful.
★★★★★Pine Lakes was in good shape but some holes are too long now. We also got lunch and 2 drinks so that was so that was nice
★★★★★Course was in great shape!
★★★★★One of my favorites. In great shape
★★★★★Some of the staff were very rude.
★★★★★Our favorite course and in fantastic condition. Main reason I only give 4 ranking to other courses is the need to differentiate this one.
★★★★★very true greens
★★★★★Pine Lakes was in great shape. Tee boxes to fairways to greens. Staff was friendly as well.
★★★★★This Coaurse was the best of the week.
★★★★★Great condition,
★★★★★Really enjoyed the course
★★★★The course was in really good condition for the most part. Our group enjoyed the experience. No driving range and some other minor limitations but overall really good. Once again, the reason it is not a five is at the price point the value is average. Nevertheless, I would recommend the course.
★★★★Liked the course a lot but a little too busy with the maintenance and grounds people
★★★★Course conditions were average maybe a little early in the season but all else was very nice
★★★★Enjoyed the course but it’s too busy. Way too many people one group after another other and mowers and groomers are everywhere
★★★★Great course. Staff was ok but treated my 13 year old like a small child so he was very off put. He plays hs and pga jr with a solid game and they were really pushy for him to play up. He shot an 86 from the #3 tees with me. Noteworthy for them to be conscious of their customers.
★★★★Beautiful course, great staff.
★★★★Played it and was happy, nice course, great greens, but nothing special to say I will play it each trip, also no range, surprising for a course like this.
★★★★★Outstanding. Conditions were great as always. Staff was great
★★★★★Good course good condition
★★★★Nice track, greens were just the right challenge.
★★★★★It was Cold but the course drained VERY WELL, and it was our favorite on the trip
★★★★★Really good course with a little wider fairways. Really enjoyed it
★★★★★Always a classic first rate course.
★★★★★Excellent golf course and restaurant I would play it again
★★★★★Really nice course. Outside staff not very welcoming.
★★★★★From the time you drop your clubs to when you leave you are made to feel very welcome. Excellent course.
★★★★Course was very good
★★★★★Wow. great course in great condition, beautiful large greens perfect fairways, weel run.
★★★★★Love this course.
★★★★★Course was in impeccable shape. Fall golf is a real treat in Myrtle Beach.
★★★★★Good challenge.
★★★★★The Granddaddy’s very nice. I wish the starter and marshal’s would stipulate to players to repair divots and ball marks on the greens. They seemed to have more than any other course we played. Otherwise it was impeccable.
★★★★★Extra touches like clam chowder at the turn and attendant cleaning clubs
★Rained out. Could only get rainchecks not happy we couldn’t get refund, I paid you for 8 players at $137 each that’s almost $1,100, you should’ve refunded the money
★★★It is a nice course. We just felt that the other two courses were a cut above this course.
