The course
One of Pete Dye's better designs, Prestwick earned a 4.5 star rating from Golf Digest without resorting to tricked up greens.
Built in 1989 across a natural dune field, Prestwick plays through plenty of waste bunkers, deep pot bunkers, and rolling greens that recall its namesake, the Prestwick Golf Club of Scotland. The 9th and 18th holes wrap around a 50 acre lake, and thick groves of pines, giant oaks, bay trees, and natural dogwoods frame the property. Six sets of tees stretch the par 72 from 5210 yards up to 7086, where the slope reaches 140.
Prestwick was named the 2006 Myrtle Beach Hospitality Golf Course of the Year, and the hospitality holds up off the course too. The upscale clubhouse overlooks the finishing holes and serves excellent food and drinks. When your round is done, grab a seat on the veranda and watch the groups behind you try to negotiate the closers.

★★The wizard is of course I never wanna go back to. The growth that they have in the middle of the fairway on the sides where everybody looks for balls if that happens to go in there delays the game it’s horrible and wanna play there again. Prestwick is a very nice course but too difficult for the players of our group. It was longer than expected. And the rough was very difficult. So I don’t think we’ll play there again either. But I can’t complain about the condition. It was beautiful.
★★★Unable to play as course was closed due to tropical storm Debby.
