The course
Thistle is 27 holes of superb Scottish links golf with a rule no other Myrtle Beach area course offers: tee times spaced 12 minutes apart for relaxed four hour rounds.
Designed by Tim Cate and opened in 2000, Thistle Golf Club is a 4.5 star rated 27 hole links course with three nines, Cameron, Stewart, and MacKay, that combine into par 72 routings from roughly 6,800 to nearly 7,000 yards off the championship tees. The greens are huge, smooth, fast, and undulating, and they accept either a bump and run along the ground or a shot flown all the way in. Fairways are generous with plenty of uphill and downhill shots and mounding. Stray offline and you will find Scotland at its best in native grasses, heather, and wildflowers.
What sets Thistle apart is pace of play. Tee times run 12 minutes apart as a firm rule, which keeps a full hole open both in front of you and behind you. A relaxed four hour round is the norm, so the day feels like playing at your own private club. Conditions and playability are both superb, making Thistle an easy course to recommend for any group.
