For as long as anyone can remember, the Grand Strand has had more than 80 golf courses and almost nowhere to hit a ball under a roof. That has changed completely in about two years. Six indoor facilities have opened between Pawleys Island and Shallotte, North Carolina, and together they hold 23 hitting bays. Every one of them is a real option on the afternoon a front comes through and washes out your tee time.
This matters more to a golf package than most visitors expect. A February cold front or a July thunderstorm used to end the golf for the day and leave eight people looking at each other in a condo. Now there is a simulator bay within roughly half an hour of wherever your group is staying, most of them with a bar and a kitchen attached, and most of them happy to take a walk in booking from a group with nothing else to do until the radar clears.
Here is what has opened, where each one sits on the Strand, what it costs and when it is open. The reporting behind this piece comes from On the Green Magazine, which has covered each opening as it happened.
The north end
The north end has more indoor golf than anywhere else on the Strand, which suits groups basing themselves around North Myrtle Beach, Little River and Calabash.
1. Pin Point Indoor Pickleball and Golf, Little River
The biggest indoor golf building in the market by a wide margin, opened in early 2026 in a former Sports Zone at 47,000 square feet. Six golf bays sit on the ground floor beside a chipping and putting green, and a seventh is a VIP bay upstairs next to a full bar and kitchen that overlook both the simulators and nine pickleball courts. Every bay runs a Trackman iO overhead launch monitor with more than 500 courses loaded, plus a range mode and a diagnostics test center, and each bay holds at least six golfers.
Adam Holmes is the director of golf on site, handling lessons, club fittings and regripping. Memberships and leagues are there if you live here, but a visiting group can simply rent a bay by the hour.

2. Golfluent, Little River
Golfluent was the north end original, opened in January 2025 by Rudy and Ashley Rueda at 1763 Highway 17 near the North Carolina border. It rents bays by time rather than running on memberships, which is exactly what a visiting group needs, and it was deliberately built as a family space rather than a bar with screens in it.
Five simulators carry more than 300 courses, games and a practice range. Four are paired with Trackman iO units set up for simulator play, and the fifth runs a Trackman 4 with the extra data used for instruction and fittings. PXG rental clubs are on site, so nobody has to drive back to the condo for a bag.

3. Net Par Shallotte, Shallotte, North Carolina
The newest of the six and the first in Brunswick County. Net Par opened on Aug. 8, 2026 at 4636 East Coast Lane in a purpose built 3,300 square foot unit, with four Trackman bays, a bar, a food menu of flatbreads and shareables, a wall of televisions and a 700 square foot patio. It is a franchise, but a family run one: Kurt and Amanda Terry bought it after three decades of family vacations in Brunswick County, and their children Courtland and Garret Wood moved down to run it.
PGA of America instructor Sam Cole gives lessons on site and club fittings are available. A full grand opening is planned for early October, with leagues for men, women, couples, seniors and juniors starting over the winter. Myrtle Beach itself
The central Strand splits neatly into one serious practice center and one place that is genuinely just fun.
4. Mashie Golf Institute, Myrtle Beach
Mashie is the training center of the group, built by the father and son team of Rob and Christopher Griffin at 4205 North Kings Highway. At 8,400 square feet it is the most comprehensive practice space in the market, open around the clock to members, and the stated ambition was a 24 hour fitness club for golfers.
Inside are three simulators on Full Swing monitors, a five station monitored range hitting into netting, a 1,000 square foot putting and chipping green with real undulation and rough around the edges, a fitting bay, a conference room and a gym set up for golf specific work. Every swing gets video and 16 club, impact and ball data points, and you practice with your own ball.
Mashie runs on memberships rather than hourly bays, though day passes have been part of the model. When it opened the owners were selling $25 day passes with unlimited time during manned hours and planned to move to $40 for locals and $60 for visitors, so check the current position before you drive over.

5. Golftopia, Sayebrook Town Center off S.C. 544
The most unlikely one on the list and the easiest sell to a group that cannot agree on anything. BurgerFi owner Larry Higgins spent $80,000 building a private simulator room inside his restaurant at Sayebrook, with a couch facing the screen, bartop seating behind it and retractable black curtains that close the room off from the diners.
The screen runs a Trackman iO with roughly 400 courses, a putting mode, a range mode and a stack of games, and there is a tripod for filming your swing. Scott Tanguay, head of instruction at The Coastal Golf Academy at Whispering Pines, teaches there by appointment. Six beers rotate on tap and the burgers arrive at the bartop, which makes this the low effort option after a soaked morning round.

The south end
6. Performance Indoor Golf, Pawleys Island
The first of the wave to open, back in September 2024, and the one that serves groups staying down around Pawleys Island, Litchfield and Murrells Inlet. Two couples own it, Jimmy and Julie Hiott alongside Garland and Vicki Greenway, and they built 2,000 square feet with three hitting bays.
Each bay runs a ceiling mounted Trackman iO giving 24 data points on the swing, contact and ball flight, and every session can be downloaded in the Trackman app afterwards. Each bay also has a television and Bose speakers for live sport or music. There is no dedicated putting green, but the indoor and outdoor carpet takes putting practice, and the whole facility can be booked by a group. Members get in through the door with a bluetooth app, which is how it stays open from before dawn until late.

Two more that are not quite indoor golf
Topgolf brought the idea of golf under a roof to Myrtle Beach in 2019, but the bays are open air, so a hard sideways rain is still a hard sideways rain. PopStroke opened at Broadway at the Beach in March 2024 with two Tiger Woods putting courses, and while the putting is outdoors the restaurant and bars are not. Both are worth knowing about, but neither replaces a simulator bay on a genuinely wet day.
What a bay actually costs
Bay pricing on the Strand runs from about $30 to $60 an hour, and in almost every case that covers the whole bay rather than each player. Split between four or six golfers, two hours indoors is cheaper than most of what else your group could be doing, which is exactly why the bays fill up the moment rain shows on the radar. If the forecast looks doubtful, book ahead in the morning rather than turning up at four in the afternoon with seven friends.
Building a rain plan into your golf package
Weather does not usually cancel a Myrtle Beach golf trip. It moves it around. A group that has thought about this in advance loses a few hours. A group that has not loses a day.
- Know your course policy before you book. Rain checks, replays and what happens if lightning stops play after nine holes vary course by course. We will tell you where each one stands when we put the package together.
- Pick the indoor option nearest your lodging, not the biggest one. Half an hour in the rain with four cars is worse than it sounds. If you are in North Myrtle Beach, that is Pin Point or Golfluent. On the south end it is Performance Indoor Golf or Golftopia.
- Call before you drive. Everyone else in the area is watching the same radar, and the bays with kitchens fill first.
- Use the morning washouts, not the afternoon. Summer storms on this coast usually build in the afternoon and clear, so a delayed morning tee time often still gets played. Book the bay for the middle of the day and keep the round.
- Treat it as part of the trip, not a consolation. Two hours on a Trackman with a scramble game running and food at the bartop is a decent evening on its own, and it is the cheapest round of the week.
