The course
Two island greens, ocean breezes, and the dreaded oyster shell bunkers make Oyster Bay one of the most distinctive rounds on the beach.
Dan Maples built Oyster Bay in 1983 at Sunset Beach, about 8 miles into North Carolina, and packed it with character. Fast, undulating TifEagle greens and constant coastal breezes supply the challenge, while the two island greens supply the drama. And if you find one of the oyster shell bunkers, the local advice is simple: close your eyes and swing hard.
The accolades back up the experience. Oyster Bay was Golf Digest's 1983 Resort Course of the Year, earned a 4.5 star rating in the magazine's Places to Play guide, and many consider it a top 10 course in the Myrtle Beach area. The par 72 plays 6685 yards from the championship tees at a 136 slope, 6305 from the members tees, and 4665 for the ladies.

★★★Layout a 5, greens a 1...understanding how dry it has been, these greens need a complete overhaul
★★Greens and fairways were good but tee boxes and cart paths were poor. Also outside of fairways the course is in poor condition. Staff were friendly and food was good.
★★Greens were in below average condition. They start groups on split tees which resulted in huge backups on the course. Cart guys and marshals were impolite. Tons of alligators to see on course.
★★Course condition for the price was not favorable cart paths very rough, greens and surrounding areas in tough condition. A lot of gators which is cool to see.
★★★Cart paths were in terrible condition. No markings at the holes. No directions to where the next hole is. Can be very confusing for first time players at that course.
★★★The course did not seem to be in great shape based on when I played a handful of years back.
★Course was good, would play again. BUT, WILL NEVER PLAY it again. Rangers were absolute A..holes. Threatening to force me to jump forward a hole when we were hole and a half ahead. Both rangers were d..cks from the start.
★★★★Treated us well
★★★★★Great improvement from a few years ago.
★★★★They offered breakfast before the round but we were not informed and we ate at hotel.
★★★★★Greens were in great condition and rolled well.

★★★★★see above duplicate
★★★Course is very nice but condition not great
★★★★3rd time, never gets old.
★★5+ hour round. They are very proud of the gators. Wish they would have had that pride in the course.
★★★★Fantastic setup, fun course. The back 9 was fantastic and beautiful. The course player quick and we had a great experience. The course, though, wasn’t in fantastic shape and some of the greens had trouble growing grass.
★★★★Loved the scenery and wildlife though the course was a little beat up though. If they put some money into that it would have been my favorite course
★★Rough around the edges. Would have liked some info about the gators.
★★★Good bones but needs some care
★★★★Golf course is a little beat up. Tee boxes and cart paths were rough but the scenery and views were great
★★★★Course in fair condition
★★★★Great course that needs some TLC. Very little signage to show you around the course.
★★★★★Lost a few balls......will be back to try and find them one day. Great course!
★★★Need some work especially cart paths. Loved the alligators.
★★★★★Great course. Excellent condition. Alligators were a treat.
★★★Layout was good, course needs a lot of clean up and cart paths were old and new repair
★★★★Fairways and greens were in great shape but the rough was in rough shape in spots. Lost balls we shouldn’t have. Clubhouse desperately needs some updating. Good fun though.
